Who needs Jubii! ?

In recent times has Peter Lundsgaard got a lot of attention in the Danish media industry. Most recently in the Times, he has told on Lycos; site, the company and plans.

The site must be relaunched with few but good partners. Sites must be Gossip, film, finance and money, women Amine site is launched and a similar for men will come. And so will aim to become the preferred home in Denmark.

Given that Jubii.dk located on a 12th space FDIM list of most visited sites in Denmark in relation to the top five a year ago - and that Lycos has lost 24% traffic only during the last quarter - it is not surprising that we talk about the moves.

Immediately I can see no change. Jubii.dk divided into smaller sites, perhaps inspired by the fact that Freeway is good to hit segments through niches. But otherwise the content remains the same.
Lycos has since launching in 1995 was a starting point for searches in Denmark. But as long as their product is better than Google and MSN remain home through the use of new Microsoft software, and people will neither be labeled as nerds or build their own start pages for example. Netvibes, I can not see how Jubii to reach the goal.

Rune Bech writes is true that the future exists for sites a la Lycos, the content, village hall, services and store combined.
But as the service online, especially to be among the 20 most visited sites in Denmark, you must offer something unique. What do I need with Lycos? If we fail, then users will zap continued between various existing and new niche sites, each fulfilling different needs. I have my doubts that Lycos should be included when Bernholm at PC World asserts that portals are hot again.
